City Showcase Tournament

We will not be holding the 2021 City Showcase Tournament in its usual format. We currently plan to hold a small invitational tournament on April 2-4, 2021 with only four or five teams per age group, and only one game per day. If your club or team would be interested, please write to us at showcase@southbronxunited.org.
We hope to return to our regular format, annual tournament on April 15-16, 2022. Stay safe!

The City Showcase Tournament provides strong competition and exposure to college soccer recruitment for youth soccer teams and players from the New York metropolitan area and beyond. The event places particular emphasis on providing inner city and minority youth, who are underrepresented in higher education and college soccer, a platform to reach college. Teams have attended from nine states, Canada, and England. Annually, over 80 college coaches register to attend. The City Showcase Tournament is an event run by South Bronx United.

Teams play three games guaranteed. Two games on Friday. At least one game on Saturday. Championship games for held in most divisions. Round-robin divisions play a fourth group game on Saturday.

Parking Parking on the island is very limited and gets crowded fast, especially during the middle of the day. We highly recommend carpooling, taking the M35 public bus from 125th Street, or walking over the 103rd Street footbridge or RFK Bridge footpath from Queens. GPS Address: 20 Randall’s Island Park, New York, NY 10035 If you must drive to the island, please park only in designated parking spots. Cars will be ticketed if they are not parked in designated spaces, including on the grass and along the road. The City Showcase CANNOT do anything about parking tickets. This is run entirely by Randall’s Island and the NYC Parks Department. We suggest parking near fields 50 and 51, 40s fields, and Icahn Stadium. You can drop off players near the entrance to the Wards Island loop and find parking farther north. There may be tram service around the island, but it is unpredictable so plan to walk. If you plan to bring a bus, please call Randall’s Island staff in advance to enquire about special procedures at (212) 860-1899. For further information, please visit the following links: Field Map

South Bronx United first hosted the College Showcase Tournament on Easter Weekend in 2010 at Macombs Dam Field. The next year, the event moved to Randalls Island. In 2014, Downtown United Soccer Club (DUSC) partnered with South Bronx United to create the City Showcase Tournament. The event has attracted more than 100 boys and girls teams per year from New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maryland, Rhode Island, Virginia, Texas, Canada, and England with over 90 college coaches registered to attend. The Student-Athlete Symposium was held in 2014, 2015, and 2017 at Baruch College and Upper 90 Astoria. It featured guest speakers including former USA Men’s National Team Captain Claudio Reyna and New York City FC player and Fordham University graduate Ryan Meara and panelists varying from admissions officers to college coaches at all levels.
